Restoring ecosystems through collective action

Pine Tree Hunters was founded in 2019 by a group of Northern Virginia outdoor enthusiasts who wanted to do more than enjoy the Blue Ridge and Shenandoah — they wanted to protect them. What started as a handful of friends planting seedlings on a cleared hillside near Delaplane has grown into one of the region's most active community reforestation programmes.

We organise planting events on lands across Virginia affected by storm damage, urban expansion, and forest fragmentation. By partnering with municipalities, land trusts, and forward-thinking companies, we mobilise volunteers to make a measurable ecological impact — one sapling at a time.

Real voices from the field

"We brought 18 people from our office and it was genuinely the best team event we've done in years. Everyone left muddy and smiling. The Pine Tree Hunters crew were incredibly well-organised — they had us planting within 20 minutes of arriving."

Marcus Chen
Operations Lead, Vantage Point Solutions

"I've been to planting days before but this was a different level. They teach you about the species you're planting, why the site was chosen, and how it fits the broader ecosystem. You leave actually understanding what you contributed to."

Priya Nair
Community volunteer, Herndon, VA

"Our CSR team has been looking for a partner whose values genuinely align with ours — not just greenwashing. Pine Tree Hunters is the real deal. The impact reports are thorough, GPS-verified, and the field team is clearly passionate about what they do."
